Is there an Endpoint?
If treatment is commenced within 1 year of onset of
symptoms the answer is most likely yes.
But for more than 1 year, successful treatment can certainly mean a cessation
of symptoms and return of good immunological function.
Like many infections it is next to impossible to
eradicate every single bacterium. Thus relapse remains possible for a lifetime
and prompt intervention with recurrence is to be encouraged.
At the cessation of treatment a patient should have a
positive IgG Western Blot.
